They asked us how we knew
Our view point was true?
We of course replied,
Science is on our side,
It cannot be denied.

Though greed can make you blind,
When our Earth’s on fire,

So they fracked us and they gaily laughed,
To think we could oust them from power.
And yet today, our love it leads the way,
We are empowered by Love.
Now, behind greenwash they hide,
Crimes that we deride.

The original song, ‘Smoke Gets In Your Eyes’ was composed by Jerome Kern and Otto Harbech and was one of the songs I grew up hearing, as my father and his friends loved to harmonise and sing it together.
In response to the escalating Climate Emergency and the Cost Of Greed Crisis, and in honour of our Truth Sharers and the bravery of the Environmental Activists, and upon seeing the startling images by EarthCam and Seth Wening/AP and so many other incredible amateur and professional photographers, of New York blanketed in a thick orange haze of noxious smoke and upon hearing the news that smoke from the Canadian wild fires is shifting and causing air-quality alerts elsewhere, including Chicago and that the smoke is also drifting over Iceland, Greenland and Norway and heading for other parts of Europe too, I found myself rewriting the lyrics to this iconic song.
It is my little contribution to the planet wide public education and awareness raising that is happening right now and all the incredible activism for #Equality, #Equity, #RespectForLife, #SocialJustice, #ClimateJustice, #RacialJustice, #Decolonisation, #Disarmament, #PeoplesAssemblies, #SystemChangeNOTClimateChange.
Awareness raising that has been going on for decades, despite all the efforts to greenwash and hide the truth and all the efforts to kill off and silence our heroic truth sharers and our selfless rights, water, air, land, planet and life defending activists, who have been and are sounding the alarm, about the danger we are all in, as, blinded by greed, the few are endangering us all and pushing us and #AllOfLifeOnEarth towards #Extinction, themselves included. #ThereIsNoPlanetB, #EarthIsHome, #AllOfLifeIsSacred, #AllOfLifeMatters. 💚🌎🌍🌏💚
Scribblings of a Petal Rebel 
Thank you Mary Ellen. I do not understand how people learn to be so ignorant that they put profit before people and our planet. They even get special mention in the Bible, “It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.” That takes a whole lot of very determined ignorance. It’s hard to determine what ignorance is, as a thing, maybe the problem is that it’s impenetrable smoke. Much love my friend. Keith.

Knowledge is our power to be the change and to raise awareness and empower others to be so too.
